Rainbow House: Phillip Island

Making international headlines the world over, a gay man in the small Victorian island community of Phillip Island was threatened by his neighbours over plans to paint his newly acquired weatherboard home in colours of the Rainbow. 

A rainbow hair stylist with international acclaim said he was left feeling violated & in fear after a knock on the door from five men in his small 7,000 plus island neighbourhood, angrily insisting he doesn’t decrease the value of their neighbouring abodes by painting his home in ridiculous colours. 

Having shared his story with friends via Facebook the following morning after having cried himself to sleep, an overwhelming response of support & encouragement followed, along with many volunteers offering to help paint it. Including a generous offer from Dulux to donate all the paint required to do so.
